If you’ve been following me, you probably know I have ventured into a new journey of writing a book. A. BOOK.
Wow! Yes it has taken me two years. It has taken me to places I never knew I could go. Sometimes I hated it. But mostly, I freaking loved it!
The whole process is somewhat magical. How you can take an idea, and create a whole new world. Create feelings and emotions and danger and just be plain out crazy if you want to.
I loved watching my idea form and mold into something worth reading.
So the update is – I have finished the book! Yay!
I always knew that before I could even think about publishing, I would need a book. Now that it is finished, I have dived into the world of publishing, and O.M.G. – It’s crazy!
There is so much to learn!!
After considerable thought, I have decided to Independently Publish my novel myself. There are many reasons for this decision, but mostly, it fits my personality to remain in complete control of my precious little baby book.
I want to control everything from the rights, to the book cover design, to the formatting – and if I sign with a traditional publisher I lose control of all of the decisions. Plus it’s extremely competitive to be accepted by a traditional publisher, it could take years, and who wants to wait when you can do it yourself. I have always been a do-it-yourselfer so I might as well use my passion and apply it to my writing career. With a degree in marketing and a background in entrepreneurship, I am confident I can take on this journey myself.
SO – the cover design and formatting is scheduled for the last week of June 2018.
Once that is complete, I will be working toward publishing through Amazon to create a Paperback and a Kindle version of the book.
I want to wait until my kids start school mid August before I hit PUBLISH – so it will most likely be late August before the book releases.
I still have A LOT to learn and appreciate any advice from anyone who has done this themselves.
I cannot wait to share my novel with the world. More updates soon!
Thank you to everyone who has been cheering me on. Your support makes all the difference.
