Apparently I used to write A LOT of poetry. I found my old grade school poetry folder and wow, I was pretty deep in 8th grade!
I forgot I used to be such a passionate writer – I’m so glad I have writing back in my life today.
Here is a sample of what I found:
Let me hear you sing please
As loud as you can,
For this may be the last time I ever hear your voice again.
I heard that you’re leaving me and that you will never return,
But to me that is not true,
Because in my heart your love still burns.
I will never forget you,
Your love stays in my heart,
Your voice stays with me,
While mine is torn apart.
Ten years from now when I’m thinking of this day,
While looking at your picture,
With the little ones out to play,
I will remember what you said to me the night I died too,
You looked at me, and with your eyes,
You whispered, “I love you.”
I sit here staring at you,
Thinking of the day,
When I’ll be with you again,
And God will let us play.
I sit and watch as you take your last breath,
And then close your crystal blue eyes,
Someone screams and the lights go out,
And a little of everyone dies.
Are you with God and the angels now?
Or are you gone forever?
I close my eyes and wipe my tears,
For we will always be together.
